English park

Historical Hike Part 2

English park

The 18th century brought a new garden fashion. The older Baroque park was built on square shapes and heavily trimmed plants. The new "English park" - or the landscape park - meant soft shapes, lush greenery, meandering walks and contrasts between light and shadow. It would be a piece of concentrated landscape!

At Wenngarn a relatively small English park was created just north of the older Baroque park. It is not so easy to imagine, but several of the apple trees that were planted then are still there and the fruit we make, among other things, makes our own must of.

Next part

The next part of the historical walk you will find along this path, towards the castle, at the history sign which is about the Viby letter.
